PUNK-NEW WAVE-SKA

"The Scalextrics were formed in Feb 2010, with the sole intention of playing punk/new wave hits & rarities from the 70's & 80's mixed up with some garage & psychedelia from the 60’s. Up until the point of forming the band I had been busy writing, drumming & singing in The Submarines with Richard McGrand after playing alongside ex-Ruts guitarist Paul Fox (RIP) in a band called "Fluffy Kitten", and later with “The Phobics” in 1998.

The band...

There have been various line-ups since the Scalextrics first started in 2010 including Charlie ex “Submarines” on bass, John Timoney, bass guitar, Neil Warner “Water Pistols” on rhythm guitar, Dan Reene “Stone Kings” bass guitar, Robert Driscoll, guitar & vocals and also Gary Harris on guitar & vocals. The current 2014 line up consists of Darren Jackson drums/vocals, Richard McGrand on guitar/vocals, Jon Smith “Flame Pilots” on bass guitar, Dave Frawley “Embryon” front man on vocals and Di Woodcock, guitar & backing vocals. The group have their own unique sound & style covering tracks from the 60's, 70's, 80's including The Stranglers, The Buzzcocks, The Clash, Supergrass, The Skids, Magazine, Sex Pistols, Talking Heads, The Pixies, Ian Dury, XTC, The Jam, The Specials and even Motorhead… Within the band there are many, many years of experience & talent, but we also realise that you have to build a strong rapport with your audience & venues and we aim to do that by playing great music to anyone who is happy to come & listen!
Enjoy

Darren Jackson…"
