The Railway - Faversham Hop Festival 2017 Information

The Railway
The Railway is (as you might expect) opposite the railway station on the corner of Preston Street and Station Road. Its large garden area and car park becomes a great Hop Festival venue with music all weekend. It is a Shepherd Neame pub with a reputation for looking after its beer! The Railway is a popular Hop Festival venue with its large outdoor area, loads of tables and chairs, outside bar and great music. It is also very well organised and despite the large number of people, there is little waiting time to get served (in my experience).

More information on the bands playing at The Railway:
(being updated)

The Chillbillies
"This is Soul - funk - jazz - ska - blues - latin - rock'n'rollin' crazy people having a good time music and all you need to do is listen, enjoy, dance."

"The Chillbillies put their own twist on covers of an eclectic mix of classic tunes, made up of a very versatile 4 piece rhythm section, with high energy vocals and featuring the infamous 'Raging Horns'™. You'll be amazed, amused, astounded!"

We Ghosts
"Anglo-Swedish alternative acoustic trio WE GHOSTS formed in 2004 and have done hundereds of gigs a year ever since. Comprising of English singer, songwriter and guitarist John Christopher and Swedish singer Jenny Jonasson (aka J.J.Woodall). They've enchanted audiences in both of their home countries, elswhere in Europe and the U.S- released three EP's and the album “Paranormal activity” in 2006. Their fine blend of vocal harmony plus punchy, rolling acoustic guitar rhythms make for a splendid live show worthy of any stage and their atmospheric, eerie and inventive recordings have been used in soundtracks as well having received frequent airplay."

Moroccan Mole

"East Kent's finest post-punk / new wave covers band are rockin' the underground - can you hear it?"

Sophie Tuck-Brown & Andy Benn - vocals, Pete Charge - sax, Dave Akerman - guitar, Stuart Thomas - keyboards, Tony Dennis - trumpet, Christine Milner - bass, Kevin Spratt - drums, Andy Pyke- , Trombone, Ben Manuel, sound engineer.

The Strumbums

A festival favourite, these guys often manage to invite some of their famous friends such as guitarist Geoff Whitehorn (Procol Harem/Elkie Brooks, Tull, McCartney, The Who etc etc). Last year we had Tom Jone’s keyboard player on stage making the six piece all star band a phenomenon to emerge from nowhere. Music is varied from Radiohead, Crosby S&N, Bon Jovi, Eagles, Police, Bonny Rait, Toto, Clapton,Sting, Doobie Bros etc etc. The musicianship is astonishing and will leave jaw dropped to the floor for the entire show.

While the strumbums are excellent musicians, the choos had more of a party atmosphere, they had people up dancing for every song right from song one to the end of the set, when the strumbums came on after the choos they did exactly the same set as the previous 2 years and the whole atmosphere went flat, next time less strumbums and more choos!!!
