THE BEGGARS BELIEF BAND
The Beggars' Belief Band are from Margate and have played successfully at various venues over the last 3 years including The Harbour Garden Cafe in Whitstable and at the Faversham Hop Fest. This year, we are seeking some new venues and to spread coverage. We are a 7 piece band playing mostly original music in a fusion of styles that has proved to be very popular.
We would very much like the opportunity to play at some music venues in the Faversham area.
PiF: Would someone please book this band to play in Faversham! Watch the video, go to their website and listen to their music. Brass, accordion great vocals and a wide repertoire that will appeal to a wide audience . . . . and they are fun! I want to see this band!

THE CHOOS
The Choos are an 8 piece soul and funk outfit which includes a hot and funky horn section. We cover soul classics, some funky Stevie Wonder and stray into brassy/funky versions of tracks such as “Mercy” by Duffy. We’d love to play in and around Faversham as we are based across the area (Maidstone through to Thanet!)
The Choos: A quailty, fantastic band that play up-beat, dancy covers designed to make any gig a lively and enjoyable experience. The core of the band have been together for 10 years, which shows in the tight, full sound that they generate.
Unlike other bands, The Choos do not use other musicians to stand-in if a member is not able to play - they are all true Choos band members through and through.
If you need a quality live band for your pub, club, wedding, festival or function then look no further - we are the band for you. Check out the site, listen to some tracks and let's get the party started!

(added 16/10/12)THE MOMENTS
The Moments are a Canterbury based band playing 60's inspired R&B
Such as:
The Stones, The Who, The Kinks, Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, Dr Feelgood, Eddie Cochran, Chuck Berry, Muddy Water, Animals etc
http://www.facebook.com/TheMomentsUK/app_2405167945
The Moments are:
Chris Rose - Vocals
I was born at a very early age and was vaccinated with a gramophone needle which made me want to jump up and down and shout a lot (the basic requirements for singing the blues)
Like Niel I spent a good part of the sixties treading the boards touring in Bedford vans and eating in Motorway cafes but unlike him I worked in the deep south (of Watford).
Worked for the old pirate radio station "Radio London" as one of the house bands playing at their live (onshore - it was a long swim out to the boat) dance nights. Appeared with most of the big names of the day and had a lot of fun (sex 'booze and rock'n'roll) until the Marine Offences Act put us out of business. Had to get a real job for the next forty years until the urge to play the blues surfaced again upon my retirement.
Put an advert on the "Kent Gigs" website for like minded musicians and met Niel and then in order of appearance, - Lee, Young Chris, Stewart and Tony. The rest is as they say "history" and I'm now in the enviable position of working with some of the most gifted and talented (not to say funny - I said not to say funny) blues musicians around - That's a fiver you all owe me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stewart Pearce - Harmonica Tamb and shouting
Originally played Guitar but started playing Harmonica around 3 years ago after going to a Blues night and realising that every bugger's playing guitar these days so I'll try something else.I love it,so expressive but boy was I wrong when I thought it was gonna be easy........Anyway here I am.
I saw these guys advertised as a Blues Band at a local event and asked if I could have a practice with them, was invited to a rehearsal, got there slightly late so they'd started, i plugged in and joined in, still no words spoken,we played a couple and then introduced each other and as a result was invited into the band.Well I've found myself a cracking bunch of musically seasoned chaps and we're having fun.......
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Niel Brierley – Drums & Vocals
One of the two Northerners in the Band, I began my “Career” in 1967. Until I moved South I played in Pro Bands, semi-pro Bands, Duos, Trios, and Dance Bands with a fair sprinkling of depping along the way over the years. Lots of travelling in the backs of Bedfords, Transits, VWs, and Commer vans all over the northern and Midland areas of England. After moving to the wonderful South East I carried on playing and last year found myself back in the Blues and R & B groove with the fabulous “Moments”. Haven’t looked back since.
(Is that OK Stu ? Have I said all the right things? Can I have my money now please?)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tony Beer- lead and rhythm
I remember it well, it was 2011 and I had just discovered Bert Weedons play in a day book ,
I was diligent with my practising and within a month I had learnt everything that little font of knowledge could offer.
It was obvious that the next step must be to join a band, but who?? I approached all the big names; Cliff, Elton, Ozzy & Cheeko, but there were no openings, and to be fair the restraining orders were getting a little embarrassing!! But it was a chance phone call to Chris, the bass player, that proved to be my lucky break and I found myself one Sunday afternoon at an audition with some very talented musicians; "The Moments"
Luckily no one could tell I was miming and,so, I was in!
Quickly thinking that I should "up my game " a little , I spent the next week watching "this is spinal tap" repeatedly for up to 32hrs a day.
All this hard work paid off and today I am a full time member of the group. And what a group it is, driven by the desire to bring blues to the masses ( the odd free pint wouldn't go amiss) you can find us on the road, preaching the gospel of R&B to the lost and lonely everywhere.
Amen brothers!

Contact: brendan_parker@mac.com
PIF: We'll try and get some more info on this band because they sound great and good fun too! The video below, 'Pyjamas', has brilliant lyrics and the video is absolutely wonderful!! You must watch it!
http://www.facebook.com/CenturionSect
Centurian Sect have sent PiF some more info:
Five piece garage punk outfit, Centurion Sect, was created by Sir Jimmy Saville shortly before his death. Centurion Sect write and perform dark and dangerously amusing songs. We wear pyjamas and glower menacingly at our audience, causing grown men to weep with envy and women to faint from sexual anticipation. We are new, we are fun, we are ready to take Faversham by storm.
- Brendan Parker - AKA Helmutus Pointius
- Matthew Scott - AKA Ludicrus Sextus
- David Gratus - AKA Maximus Eroticus
- Andy Hastings - AKA Do Ray Me Farticus
- Edd Smith - AKA Albus Tacitus
Influences: The Sonics, Downliners Sect, The Oblivians, Dr Feelgood, The Blockheads, The Cramps, Chas and Dave
Five piece garage punk outfit, The Centurion Sect, was created by Jimmy Saville shortly before his death. Sir Jimmy spent many years helping at Broadmoor, but some of the inmates were even beyond his reach. Lead singer, Centurion Brendan, AKA Helmutus Pointius, fondly recalls the famous meeting.
Yeah, well Jimmy came to see me in solitary. I had been on a bit of a flesh frenzy bender with my chainsaw. He tried reasoning with me, then let me have it in both eyes with his cigar. As my retinas fizzed Jimmy said, Man, thats one mean scream you got there, almost soulful in a dangerously psychotic way. After that it was pretty much a numbers game, checking through criminal records and mug shots to find the rest of the band.
Lead guitarist and backing vocalist, Centurion Matt, AKA Ludicrus Sextus, a confidence trickster specialising in local government scams, once accidentally killed six people with his bare hands. It was just one of those unfortunate accidents; I was mid solo when some ignorant oiks mobile went off. The raw garage energy carried me on a tidal wave of mindless retribution. This would never have happened in my formative years as a session player for the Wombles. Matts egotistical mania has recently seen him swapping from bass to lead guitar where his various psychosis issues often lead to life changing guitar solos. One to watch, from a respectful distance.
Rhythm guitar, backing vocals and heroically loud shirts are provided by Centurion Dave who enjoyed a successful career as a stalker and screen printer, until DNA samples of his distinctive pigments led to the solving of 27 serious attacks committed over a 15 year period. The deadly Psycho Crooner who lulled his victims into a sense of stupification with his dulcet tones, remains defiant. I did it for art, not for pleasure. Dave, AKA Maximus Eroticus, loves nothing more than showing off his magnificent organ in public.
Newbie Edd has recently replaced Dave on keyboards so somebody really should tell him to put it away. Centurion Edd, AKA Albus Tacitus, who also plays five different harmonicas, sometimes all at the same time, remains stoic about life on the road. I could have had a proper job with my own stapler and shared photocopying facilities, but crime was so much more fulfilling. A stunt double from the Tango ads, Edd went off the rails after appearing in the pilot episode of The Apprentice where his use of piano wire to boost sales brought an angry response from Lord Sugar, shortly before he lost consciousness. Hugely gifted, Edd can play keyboards with both hands and smile menacingly at the same time.
On drums and bananas, Centurion Andy (AKA Do Ray Me Farticus) escaped several high security prisons by squeezing through the bars. Free of any crime, he simply gets off on visiting criminals before removing his clothes, smearing himself with goose fat and vanishing. Being thin has to have its advantages Andy confirmed, hotly denying any involvement in the recent spate of ATM ram raids.
And thats pretty much them. Parole permitting, the Centurion Sect are available for weddings, funerals, swinger conventions and bank heists. High energy, sexually stimulating and ironically original, the Centurion Sect seamlessly deliver an eclectic mix of glam, garage, punk and psychosis. They will blow you away, you have been warned, the Centurion Sect are coming!

Brad Pittance and the Pirates
Brad Pittance and the Pirates are on a mission to take over the music waves of Kent and are quickly building a great reputation in Faversham. The band perform an eclectic mix of classic songs from across the decades.Pittance delivers stunning lead vocals with able backing vocals by the Pirates – lots of high Cs!
Brad splices the mainbrace with his trusty Michael Schenker signature accoustic guitar while Priyal de Zoyza shows real flair and energy with staggering lead guitar. Bass man Sy "Sidney Rough Diamond" Treadwell and Drummer Pedro Nyemeck create the power in the engine room.
Frontman Brad wears a Pirate style jacket with Lace sleeves and Skull and crossbones motif while the band dress in striped nautical style shirts.
Brad was born in Greenwich and grew up in Purley in South London where he performed as a solo artist and also sang in bands including The Ice Breeakers, The Geiger Counters and Light Brigade and flirted with Fame, receiving positive reviews in the press before the band imploded in frustration after a protracted delay awaiting a decision whilst several meetings were held with major record labels and their management. "Looking back I guess we should have stuck it out" says Brad.
Brad spent several years living in Tenerife where he performed as a solo artist and in a duo with a female sax player. He returned to the UK in 2010 and launched Brad Pittance and the Pirates just 12 months ago.
After a gap of several years Brad returned to song-writing and recorded the song "Being Famous". A personal critique of the vagaries of Fame and a homage to Andy Warhol's observation that "Everyone in the future will be Famous for 15 minutes" tipping a hat to several other songs on the subject including "Fame" by David Bowie, "When will I be Famous" by Bros and Sting's Cameo "I want my MTV* from the Dire Straits track "Money for Nothing" "Being Famous" initially appeared on youtube and has had well over 10,000 views. It has also appeared on numerous sites on the web all over the world including NME.com, Lastfm. Break.com. allvoices.com. tunesbag.com and wearemusic.fm

LITTLE DEVILS
Hi, I checked out your website, it's very good and I would like to take up the offer of advertising free on your website with a view to picking up gigs and festivals?little devils are building a reputable name on the blues circuit in the UK. Voted Best Live Band in Playmusic Magazine (review: "little devils are bringing new things to the blues ..touches of the Blockheads, Attractions and classic R&B energy and FUN.. mixing into great original new blues songs…"). little devils were also finalists in the New Brunswick Battle of the Blues Competition 2012. The vocalist, the Dutch Diva has been likened to Etta James and Adele. From the Netherlands, a pro singer with experiences in jazz, blues and rock – having played and recorded with Thijs van Leer, she’s got a voice than can stop traffic. Vivienne on sax is cousin of legendary producer Gus Dudgeon - Vivienne has played with many luminaries including David Gilmore, Richard Thompson, BJ Cole and Billy Bragg.
Other reviews include Blues Matters "a relief from the predictability that pervades modern day music - little devil songs have depth and the ring of authenticity. Altogether an interesting album that warrants repeated listens. For once the lyrics to the songs are well worth a read – they tell stories and introduce us to a range of quirky characters and events… The crowning glory is the vocalist – Yoka, the Dutch Diva, a charismatic performer who is well worth catching live… ” . Blues in Britain referred to "Dylan-like word play, narrative story telling and fine musicianship to the fore .. with more than 12 bar blues being the order of the day… although they are a blues band, it is only one element of what they can do. There are elements of classic songwriting, funk, classic rock and jazz…well worth seeing live .."
little devils are a great live band and have just returned from a tour of North East England where the response has been fantastic. Gigs have been offered in all venues for a further tour. Seeing the band live has led to interest from three promoters within the last year. Check out below details of responses:-
Following a recent gig in North East England, having been told by a member of the audience that “little devils were the best band he had seen for years!” led to Solid Entertainment Promotions contacting the band the following day (March 2012). Following a gig @ LockStock Festival, Camden, London, little devils were offered a residency at the famous London Blues Bar - “Ain’t Nothin But...”. Following a gig @ the Malt Shovel Tavern, Northampton, UK little devils were approached by Boogaloo Promotions and offered a series of gigs and festivals in 2012.
little devils are up there playing with the best of UK blues performers. At the Hayling Island Blues Festival Weekender (Jan 2012), Marcus Bonfanti headlined on Friday night, little devils headlined on Saturday night and The Hamsters headlined on Sunday night. little devils have toured the Netherlands in 2011 and another tour is planned for late 2012. The band is receiving increasing exposure on the radio. little devils' song “Black Diamond” has been played a number of times on The Paul Jones Showand they are regularly played on Digital Blues, Deuce Radio, Kansas City FM, Bishop FM, Blues on the Marsh, Gateway, Resonance FM and many others.

The Tied
"Currently recording an album, The Tied are a four piece band from Maidstone, Kent and were recent winners of 'Music Clash Kent 2011'. The band are also playing various local gigs and festivals in between writing new material for the album.Formed mid 2011, The Tied have recorded their debut EP after a year of hard work. Starting with covers from indie bands, few old school tracks, and a few of our own produced by the guys themselves, we attempted to make ourself known with some gigs around Maidstone. After spending some time producing more and re-mastering our own tracks, we took to the studio to get our sounds out into the real world. Our first EP: Jessica was released early January 2012."
PiF: Very much enjoyed listening to the tracks of The Tied's EP 'Jessica', there are 2 tracks below and the rest can be found on their Facebook Page This is a young band with some original material, we think they would go down well in Faversham and be a refreshing change to some of the older pub-rock bands. Listen to their music - see what you think.

The music we play is energetic and our gigs have everyone dancing.

Ben Russell & The Charmers
“Ben Russell & The Charmers”, is an original reggae roots band from Canterbury, combining the indie feel through acoustic and electric sounds.uvebeencharmed@gmail.com
Australian singer/ songwriter Ben Russell has brought with him his relaxed “surfer” vibe yet expressing energetic earthy tunes to the soulful beat of reggae.
Having teamed up with his Charmers their style can be best described as a cross between traditional reggae such as Bob Marley to acoustic thumb picking Newton Faulkner.
The band has around 2 hours of original and cover songs."

I Smoke She Don't
"Acoustic male female duo doing covers of 60's 70's 80'sWe are a relatively new band. We've 'messed' about for years and finally decided to 'do something'. For about a year now we have played every 3rd week on a Sunday at 1pm at the Whistle Stop Restaurant. All very casual and laid back. Last Thursday the 30th of June we played at the Plough in Chestfield. We got very good reviews from those who saw us play. July 30th is our 1st gig in Faversham and look forward to it. Hope for some good 'reception'."PiF says: An intrepid PiF reporter saw them at The Plough, Chestfield and says they were very, very good! They will be 'playing in Faversham' on Saturday July 30th at The Elephant. Worth going along.
Steel Bands 4u
We would not normally promote agencies but these people are in a niche market and seem . . errr . . . . nice people!
"Steel Bands 4u is an online based entertainment agency that specialises in Steel Bands. Also commonly known as Steel Pan Bands, Steel Caribbean Bands and Steel Drum bands."Their website: http://www.steelbands4u.co.uk/
It occurs to PiF that a steel band would go down well at the Hop Festival.

They will keep your venue busy from the start of Set one right thru to the end of the night. Try JacuzziSoup once and if you don’t like us…..Don’t pay us. We are that sure that you will want us back."
Boneyard Junction
We are Boneyard Junction – a local 4 piece rock band that plays a wide variety of covers. We tend to shy away from the standard pub rock you’ve all heard a gazillion times before, preferring songs that although still well known (and totally ace), are seldom performed on the pub circuit.
We are primarily a guitar band, but we throw in a bit of piano too – amongst other things we do a mean Lady Madonna and a damn good Great Balls of Fire! We have a very tight set of songs, a diary full of gigs and are developing a keen following on the local live music scene. If we say so ourselves, we’re really rather good and you ought to come see us! Look us up on YouTube, facebook or
The Geoff Everett Band
The Geoff Everett Band have contacted us to say they are looking for more gigs in the Faversham area. They are due to play the Market Inn on Friday 10th June."The Geoff Everett Band is a power R & B trio from Kent/South East London. Maximim R&B at its best."PiF is looking forward to seeing them on the 10th and judging by their music on their website and some of the bands they have played with, they look and sound very good. UPDATE - 11 June . . . . Saw them last night and was not dissapointed - great R&B band - driving bass and guitarist with a unique style. They added their own twist on the covers they played which worked well!

Dan Blood
"Ashford's viking look-a-like performs an evening of original and covered material; a mixture of middle of the road rock, folk, "stuff off the telly" and comedy; performed primarily on acoustic guitar"

The Gang
Young three piece Faversham band.
PiF says: Listened to this band's music on Facebook - the vocals are really good! And they seem able to play electric or acoustic. And . . . . . . they are young (which is good). We need more venues in Faversham for young bands!!!
