Davey Ralph & The Road Band at The Bull, Tanners St.
Great atmosphere! The band were brilliant as ever, very obvious that both the audience and the band enjoyed the evening which included Bull landlord, Martin Apps, joining the band to sing 'Under The Boardwalk'! He was actually pretty good! Hope the Bull do this again!

WILDFIRE at The Market, Fri 10 Feb
Great performance! Lead guitarist/vocalist (Ian Nix)- amazing voice, amazing guitar!
Pity there were not more people in the audience! Watch out for them the next time they play in Faversham.

BONEYARD JUNCTION at TOWV, Thurs 16 Feb
Very good evening on the first of TOWV's regular live band evenings.Very impressive band mastering what should be difficult (I think) numbers with style and drive. Great singer and a lead guitarist that also played electric piano doing both really well!

Sunday, 19th Feb. Davey Ralph and the Road Band at the Old Wne Vaults. This was the Road Band in gentle mode for a Sunday evening, not so much unplugged, just sitting down, and doing some of their favourites. Nice..........

Does anyone else in this area play the Mountain Dulcimer

A big thanx to everyone who came to The Sun Inn last Friday.
You (the audience)made it a great night for the band.

Thinking about (only thinking about) a way of arranging, via this site, for people to be able to share a taxi to and from somewhere like the Red Lion Badlesmere to see a band. This thought stems from a comment from Teressa on PiF's Facebook site. I'm only thinking . . . probably won't do it . . . . . thinking . . . just thinking . .

ROCKSTOX at The Sun, Friday 2 March
Not sure that I've ever seen this band before but had in mind that they were just a basic pub / function band (you know the sort). I was wrong!
They played some great numbers with power and style - really good!

Thanks to everyone who came along to The Market Inn yesterday, and thanks also to the Landlord who really does make it a pleasure to play there!

We had a blast and hope you all did too. See you there again soon!

Just heard that local band JAILBIRD have split up. The band had played many gigs in the town over the past year. PiF wishes all the band members well in whatever the future brings them.

Felix Fables - last night at The Anchor . . . were very . . very good!

Saw Brad P and the P's at the Boy on Saturday night. Poor turnout for a VERY good band! I recommend them highly - catch them when you can

Hi Nightjar and thank you. Really appreciated.
We are Faversham Virgins with just two gigs in the town so far. We will be back at The Old Wine Vaults and The Chimney Boy and will be at The Ship, 12 Ospringe Street on Friday August 3rd. Hope to see you there. Come say Hi :-)

End of regular music in the Four Horseshoes Graveney. New Owner/Landlord says he does not want the Uke Club or the Country Music Club to play in his Pub anymore.
Must be rich
Able to turn down the money for pulling 20-30 Pints.

That's a real shame! I thought the Uke Club and Country Music Club were a great way of helping keep a village pub going. Have both clubs stopped already?

PiF said...

MAN-PAMA at the Swan & Harlequin, Hop Fest Friday

Davey Ralph at The Sondes Arms last Sunday was sublime and landlord Chris Carter accompanied them in a very good rendition of "Beautiful Tonight". Since it re-opened Chris is trying to establish a regular Sunday afternoon gig after the lunch plates have been cleared and, as it's a minutes walk from Selling Station, it really is a no-brainer.

PiF said...

Paddy - Sondes like it was a great afternoon! In PiF's view, Davey Ralph and his band are worth travelling for. PiF are more than happy to help promote live music at the Sondes Arms and help keep rural pubs alive. Could you please let Chris know that all he has to do is to email us.
Cheers

We are looking for a band to play at a awards event we will be holding next month. We would be looking for a band the guests could have a good dance to, maybe jazz?

Please send prices and a short description of your band to emma@kentcreativearts.co.uk

Thank you!

Hi PiF

Trying to get in touch with Spade and Archer (after seeing them at this year's Moare Music) to book them for a gig in Faversham next summer. Only contact we have is their Facebook page which looks out of date. Any chance you could let them know we are interested and ask them to contact us?

Many thanks

Rikki

PiF said...

Mick & Rikki re. Spade & Archer. The only contact I have is via their Facebook page which does look current as it lists a gig in Canterbury on the 13th Nov.

I would be happy to contact them on your behalf but do not have your contact details.
If I can be of any more help email me at:

Having great fun with your new header and a game not disimilar to Where's Wally! Our French friends have been alerted to their presence top right. More power to your elbow for 2013!

PiF said...

Thanks - I'm really pleased you are enjoying the header image. If you've not already found it - there's a page called 'Header Image' that gives a bit of background to the composition and includes a higher resolution version which is (I think) downloadable.
I think your French friends more than deserve their place!

Just been down to the Brewery Shop to buy my tickets for 9 March and they did not have any but took my name. Have noticed now that you refer to the Visitor Centre. Did I go to the wrong place? Usually tickets are at the Shop.

PiF said...

Hi Richard - as of yesterday tickets are available online from the OBS website. Tickets will soon be available from the Brewery Shop and other outlets - they are being printed now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Richard Murr said...

I feel that that the music scene in Faversham is getting too competitive. Look at today. 2.30 Hullabaloo at the Market Inn. 4.30 Nico at the Phoenix and Blues Bandits at the Anchor. 8.00 Under the Wood at The Sun! Today is not a festival just a cold Sunday in February.

Anonymous said...

I think it cheers up a cold Sunday in February no end! An early lunch and then happy swing/jazz/jive followed by extremely well-executed blues if that's your bag or jazz/funk if that's more you. Finish off with a party at the Sun. We are spoiled for choice and other towns would give a lot for the entertainment we have offered on a plate!

John Turner said...

To have such a choice of live music on a Sunday in February in Faversham... 'competitive' ? ! ? ! It is FANTASTIC!!! Good for the bands to get more exposure, great for the pubs and restaurants and just brilliant for Faversham! Competitive? Well yes! but competition simply drives up quality (we are lucky to have it in such depth in and around Faversham) Enjoy and celebrate!!!

Richard Murr said...

My old school friend, Richard Manktelow, sent me an email to say that he was playing with The Pepper Set at the Chimney Boy on Sunday. I don't think that I can make it but thought you might like to know!

Anyone around who plays or makes Cigar Box Guitars.
Just finished my 4th and started to make 5th. Mostly 3 string Fretless but a couple of 4 string with frets.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the site. It's very useful having listings in one place! :0)

PiF said...

Thanks for your kind comment. Don't get a lot of feedback so your comment is really appreciated.

Mateylott said...

Still making Cigar Box Guitars and selling them, mostly thru East Street Music.
Selling a couple a week but what I want to know is having bought them "Where are they being Played" ? Who's playing them ?

PiF said...

That is the burning question . . . . . Got a light?

Anonymous said...

Just read that you have considered closing PiF in the future.
Being interested in music myself, I have used your excellent site to organise my weekends in advance for the last couple of years and will certainly miss you. As KC and his band once said - "Please don't go!"

PiF said...

Thanks for your kind comment. I started PiF because there seemed to no way of discovering where and when live music was happening in the town - pubs etc didn't (and still don't) update their own websites. After 2 and more years I sometimes forget the reason for starting PiF and get fed-up with the almost total lack of input from pubs and venues. However, today the Chimney Boy have provided me with their line-up for the rest of the year; got a nice message from the Old Wine Vaults; and your comment. Suddenly everything is much better.
The future's so bright, you've got to wear shades!

Thanks John, PiF already has this listed . . any details of the 'special' aspect of this gig would be welcome. Should be a great night - good band - good pub!

Hiya! My band High Tide have recently come free on the sunday of hop fest, we are already doing saturday night but I'm wondering if there is any space at a venue for us to play on sunday? Cheers guys. Ben

Just thought I should let you know how much I value this site. I use it on a weekly basis to plan my leisure time. Thank you so much for all your hard work, especially regarding the hop festival. Please keep it up.

PiF said...

I know this sounds daft but I honestly can't put in to words how much I appreciate your kind comments. Thanks very much

Taxi sharing an awesome idea PiF, how about something for us village people to get into town too?

Anonymous said...

Sad to hear your thinking of closing your website, We always use as reference for the bands playing in the pubs.

Keep up the excellent work and hopfully you will get your mojo back and continue.

Great gig by Faversham's [aka Southcliffe's] own Green Diesel on Sunday at the Market Inn. They get better every time bringing a real edge to traditional folk . Songs like Fire and Wine have traces of Jefferson Airplane in them. The Market Inn has developed into one of Faversham's best music venues.

Love the website. Got my christmas live music sorted carols in the Square on the 23rd. And the Sun with Project Funky on Christmas Eve. Really REALLY good band.

Any info on when Sur Led Docks are back in town for 2014??

Hi Sherry
Good question . . and one I don't have an answer to. But I will try to find out and will post the results of my research here asap.

Sherry - As far as I can see - Sur Les Docks will be at The Sweeps Festival in Rochester in May and at The Old Wine Vaults on the 6th June. More info: http://www.surlesdocks.com/

Thanks Rob, I didn't realise they had a website! Keep up your good work, your site is invaluable....especially for hop fest! Cheers, Dave & Sherry. :-)

Thanks Dave and Sherry for your kind words. And the good news is that it seems the future of the HopFest is secure for the next couple of years.
