Kent Coastal Concert Band – Biography:

The band's roots are drawn from a small group of musicians who used to rehearse in a church hall in Greenhill, Herne Bay. The band formed properly in 1991 under the baton of Paul Valentine. With his musical background, he endeavoured to find musicians in the local area to join the band in its infant stages and the ‘Kent Coastal Concert Band’ was born. The band’s members are now drawn from all over the east of Kent, although the nucleus still originates from Herne Bay and Thanet.

The band performed its first concert after about two and a half years at Christmas in the church hall that it still rehearses in today. We now perform regular concerts at venues all over the county, including bandstands, festivals and charity events. Our annual Christmas Concert is our biggest and most successful event which is held at the Kings Hall, Herne Bay, where an audience of several hundred are entertained each year.

Back in 1992, there were only 10 to 15 players but the band has now grown to 45 regular members. We are proud to have members of all ages, from experienced musicians through to those still developing their talent, from retired people through to those still at school.

The band aims to perform concerts of a high standard and with a varied repertoire, we offer musical programmes to suit the tastes of wide and varied audiences. Above all, we offer a fun-filled family atmosphere at our concerts and we hope the fun that we are having comes across to you too.
